2. Who are your learners? What age, context/grade, how many students?
This unit is designed for students who have met standard for the 7th grade level in reading and writing. This course will be designed for simultaneous dissemination to approximately 30 students.
3. Main purpose of the course?
The main purpose of this course will be to introduce students to the fundamentals of journalistic writing including research, interviewing, photography, editing and layout.
4. Will the course be self-paced or facilitated? Fully online or blended? Why?
This course will be designed for facilitated, blended delivery. The hope would be to allow for use in a traditional school setting as well be adapted for fully online presentation.
5. Anticipated timeline for implementation?
I would like to see this course presented starting in the fall of 2011. It is a 1 trimester course.
6. How many total hours of learning time are required in your course?
This course will include 50 hours of instructional time.

I will be using Moodle to host this course. I will also include podcasting in this course.

This is a redesign of a face-to-face course currently being taught at Gaiser Middle School in Vancouver, WA.
